During winter 2000/2001 birds survey in the vicinity of Bortnychi waste-water treatment station (Kyiv environs) more then 40 bird species were counted, including rare wintering in the Northern Ukraine as Great White Egret, Grey Heron, Water Rail and Grey Wagtail. Favourable conditions for the wintering birds were formed here owing to warm water discharge to the Dnieper River and food abundance. [Russian].
