Observations of Slender-billed Curlews on Atanasov lake in Bulgaria, April-May

A mixed flock of Slender-billed Curlews and Whimblels was observed on the Atanasov
Lake each day since 11 till 19.04.1996. Number of Slender-billed Curlews varied
from 4 to 9 individuals (2 young birds). Birds were very timorous. The minimal
flight distance was 80-100 m. Differences between two species are discussed.
