Mallards and perches: cases of connected hunting. - I.R. Merzlikin. - Berkut. 11 (2) 2002. - P. 265-266.
Observations were made on a pond in Sumy (NE Ukraine) on 22.08–8.09.2002. Ducks pursued bleaks eskaped from hunting perches. Having heard the “smack” of a perch, a mallard swam there and patrolled an area in 4–6 m. Bleaks escaped from ducks on surface of water, they bewared of the perch in depth. Pursuits lasted on average 30 seconds and in 60 % cases were successful. [Russian].
