Invasions of Nutcracker and Crossbill in the Middle Dnieper Area. - M.N. Gavrilyuk, O.V. Ilyukha, M.M. Borysenko. - Berkut. 19 (1-2). 2010. - P. 157-160.
Data were collected in three regions of central Ukraine in 1989–2010. Weak invasions of the Nutcracker were registered in the autumns of 1992, 1996, 1998. The intensive invasion took place in 2008−2009. The first birds appeared in the third decade of September. The peak of migration was observed in October and early November. Single birds were registered up to early January 2009. Some Nutcrackers were observed again during February − May 2009. Timing of invasions is not correspond to other regions. Weak invasions of the Crossbill were registered in May − June 1997, in the autumn of 2005 and 2006. The intensive invasion took place in 2008−2009. The first birds appeared in the mid July. The greatest number of Crossbills were recorded during September 2008 − January 2009. Invasions of Crossbill in the Middle Dnieper Area also not allways contemporized with observations of these birds in other regions of Ukraine and neighbouring countries. Breeding attempts of Nutcracker and Crossbill were not observed. [Ukrainian].
